TBR — Richmond, VA – Gospel Legend, Pioneer and Icon, Mother Maggie Ingram passed away on Tuesday evening, June 23rd. Known for her angelic smile and love for the Lord she was truly a fixture in Gospel Music. She formed her legendary group Maggie Ingram and the Ingramettes more than six decades ago. Their high energy and strong traditional sound always brings the crowd to their feet with their contagious hand clapping and foot stomping beats.

However recently, Maggie’s pace and singing had slowed down a bit causing concern for her health. During a recently concert with the Ingramettes, lead singer and daughter Almetta said, “This is only the second concert we have ever done without momma.”

On Tuesday, in the late evening of June 23rd, Mother Maggie Ingram sang her final note, and closed her eyes for a final time to rest with the Lord.

The news of her passing quickly spread throughout her hometown of Richmond, VA as the Gospel Community moved to tell others via social digital outlets of her passing.

Maggie Ingram was only a couple of weeks away from celebrating her 85th birthday, which would have been on Saturday July 4th.

May we all keep her family in your prayers.
